make your own nut butter

in this photo I made peanut butter, but you can replace with any other nut!

is ridiculously easy to make and cheaper and tastier then the store-bought.

without saying how healthier,empowering and fun can be!

Cooking Time

depending if you want raw butter or with toated nuts, in which case you will need about 15 minutes of roasting

Yields

500grams

Ingredients

500 grams (2cups) peanuts (or other nuts)

1 or 2 tablespoons coconut oil

a pinch or two of sea salt (optional)



Directions

optional, if you want roasted nuts (choose this option for a richer flavour and more creamier consistency):

  • set the nuts over a parchment paper on an oven tray and roast them for about 15 minutes at 180°C (if you have shelled nuts like cashews or others can be just 10 minutes)
  • take out the tray and let the nuts cool down
  • decide to unshelled the nuts by rubbing them into your hands until the skin fall off , or keep the shell

for raw or roasted nut butter:

  • place the nuts into the blender and start to mix until grinded
  • stop scrape the sides
  • mix more and after few minutes stop,let it cool down a bit,scrape the sides
  • then mix again for a coupple of minutes
  • stop and let it cool, scrape the sides if needed
  • add the coconut oil and the salt and mix more for the last one or two minutes
  • store it in a glass jar in the fridge and keep it for few months

Notes

you can add some honey for a sweet version or cacao powder or spices like cinnamon, just try out your special version!
